Our Team

Richard is responsible for steering investment strategies of Genesis Capital. Prior to founding Genesis, Richard was previously the Head of Investment and Corporate Vice President of Tencent from year 2008 to 2015. During his tenure at Tencent, Richard was in charge of all investment and M&A activities across the company and led investments in hundreds of Internet companies globally. Signature deals include Didi Chuxing, Dianping, JD.com, Cheetah Mobile and Youxinpai, etc.
Prior to Tencent, Richard was a Principal of Google corporate development team responsible for its M&A activities in the Greater China region. Richard was one of the earliest employees of Google China and was instrumental in building Google China’s reseller program, one of the two major sales channels for Google Adwords in China. 
Prior to Google, Richard worked with different well regarded organizations, including Samsung Group and Shanghai Stock Exchange. 
Richard holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, a M.S. in Economics from Peking University and an MBA from the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
